EMCR Development Program

At the NHMRC Centre for Research Excellence in Coronary Artery Disease (CRE for CAD), we are committed to fostering collaboration and supporting the next generation of leaders in CAD research. Our EMCR (Early and Mid-Career Researcher) Development Program is designed to provide a supportive environment for your growth and development. Through this program, you will have the opportunity to work alongside clinicians, senior researchers in biomedical and bioinformatics fields, clinical trial experts, health economists, and policy specialists. This diverse mentorship will help you develop a range of skills and knowledge while encouraging collaboration and exchange of ideas among peers.

FORMAL MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Benefit from cross-disciplinary mentorship by experienced Chief Investigators (CI) and opportunities to supervise graduate students.

ENGAGEMENT

Engage with patients and consumers through national SMuRFless clinic nodes, study recruitment, and opportunities to contribute to consumer forums.

TRANSLATIONAL BIOINFORMATICS

Gain exposure and partnership with global leaders in computational bioinformatics through weekly case-focused teleconference meetings.

CROSS-DISCIPLINARY FIELDWORK

Collaborate with CI experts in pipeline drug discovery for biomarker development and validation projects.

COMMERCIALISATION

Enrol in commercialisation training programs to explore the potential for translating research into practical applications.

HEALTH ECONOMICS

Ensure cost-effectiveness and feasibility of CAD detection and treatment strategies through economic evaluation, with opportunities for involvement in health economics projects.

EMCR CATALYST SEEDING GRANTS

Exclusive merit-based grants of $10,000 awarded yearly to members of the EMCR Development Program.

LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Demonstrate your independent research and leadership capabilities by taking on co-chair or deputy-chair positions within the CRE for CAD Governance structure.

Getting Involved

Expressions of interest to join the EMCR program are open all year round with intakes in January each year. EMCRs will be given an opportunity to select their career goals, research interests, and opt into the mentorship program. Membership renews annually.
